Bemidji Convention
The Jolly Promenaders is a club dedicated to the fun and friendship known as Square Dancing.

Our club has enjoyed membership in the Square Dance Federation of Minnesota since October 1962.

  • A traditional folk dance from the United States based on "country" music and clothing.
  • A great social mixer for all ages. Square dancing is enjoyed at all ages, from grade school to senior citizens.
  • Healthful exercise. It is a low fat, non-alcoholic, and high energy activity. (However, we make no guarantees about the eating that may accompany the dancing!)
  • Inexpensive. Most dances cost about $10-14 per couple.
  • A global activity. Square dancing is found in every state in the US as well as all the Canadian provinces, and in more than 50 countries around the world. Square dance calls are usually spoken in English, regardless of the location of the dance.

The Jolly Promenaders offer Square Dance lessons for new (or returning) dancers from mid-September through February.

Lessons for 2010-11 will begin with a Free Session on Sunday, September 12, 6:00-8:00 p.m. at VFW Post 4210, 556 SW 12th Street, Forest Lake.

Square Dancing is a Great American Tradition. Perfect for anyone desiring low-impact recreation and high-caliber socializing. Adults and youth, 10 and up, welcome!
